Fvolunteeror clients living with life-threatening illness and their families, Project Angel Heart defines comfort food. Professional chefs, in our on-site, industrial-sized kitchen, prepare up to the equivalent of three meals per day, five days per week for each client, depending on need. Volunteers work alongside the chefs to prepare meals for over 800 clients each week.

Our chefs are creative with the menu selection and incorporate a variety of meals from different cultures, often providing a client with a unique culinary experience. Our meals are both nutritious and appetizing. .

Menu Modifications

In order to meet the dietary needs of our clients due to their illness, we modify up to 70% of the meals each day. Diet restrictions include, but are not limited to:
  • Low Fat / Low Sodium – meals for our clients that need to be conscious of fat and sodium in their diet.
  • Renal / Diabetic Diet - a diet tailored to kidney problems, with low potassium/sodium/phosphorus/acid, no soy, very mild spices only, higher protein to carbohydrate ratios, and no added sugar.
  • Naked – a “naked” diet that includes no wine, herbs, peppers, or onions, and no highly flavorful or exotic foods.
  • Vegetarian – meals excluding all meats, featuring vegetables, soy and tofu.

Birthday Cakes

For as long as we have been delivering meals, we have also delivered a birthday cake to our clients on the week of their birthday. It is important to us to recognize this special day in a clients life and celebrate them. Each client receives a cake and a hand-made birthday card. We are extremely grateful to the following bakeries for their donation of cakes throughout the year.
