Project Angel Heart provides nutritious, home-delivered meals, free of charge, specifically prepared to meet the heightened nutritional needs of people living with life-threatening illness. We rely on a staff of volunteers who work six days per week under the direction of professional chefs to prepare, package, and deliver our meals. Up to 70% of client meals are modified to meet individual dietary needs.
To qualify for Project Angel Heart meals, individuals must meet two eligibility requirements as determined by a licensed medical professional, including:
1.Diagnosis of a life-threatening illness, or a combination of conditions that result in a life-threatening status.
2. Clients must be one of the following:
- Has limited mobility related to the illness, its treatments, or some other condition
- Homeless/Temporarily Housed
- A minor (under 18 years of age)
A majority of clients qualify for five meals cooked fresh daily, that are delivered frozen once per week. If a client lives in central Denver and does not have the proper refrigeration/freezing capabilities necessary for this service, or is too ill to get out of bed, Project Angel Heart will deliver hot meals up to five days per week. Clients experiencing nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, wasting, or are losing weight may also qualify for breakfast items delivered with their meals.
Clients are generally referred by social workers, case managers and medical professionals at local hospitals, clinics, hospices, and human service organizations, but may also self-refer by calling the Client Services Department at 303.830.0202 or 800.381.5612. Referral forms may be downloaded on this site and must be returned with the signature of the client and a medical professional managing the client’s care.
