Lucky 20 Productions "Flaming of the Shrew": December 2 & 3, 9 & 10 and 16 & 17, 7:30 p.m.

Flaming of the Shrew is a re-consideration of... (you guessed it!) Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. Set in present-day New Orleans in the Mardi Gras shop of the Krewe De Vieux, Flaming is the story of an unconventional family trying to make its way in a fragile world.

The all-male cast is a throwback to traditional Shakespeare. But the characters are all gay, and the cast is an ensemble; a non-traditional interpretation lending itself to an exciting new play, new stars, and a completely new story. The Betsy Stage, 1133 S. Huron Street, Denver, CO 80223. Tickets are $45 or $30, with $10 from each ticket benefiting Project Angel Heart.

BALLS! A Holiday Spectacular: December 12 and 19, 2011, 7:00 p.m.

An annual tradition for merry-makers of all creed, "BALLS! A Holiday Spectacular" is back and better than ever. A rollicking variety show with flashy guest stars, audience sock puppet sing-alongs, spontaneous haikus and worthless prizes, "BALLS!" is slightly bonkers, mostly heart-warming and entirely fun.

Starring GerRee Hinshaw (celebrated host of Freak Train), Melanie Owen Padilla (front woman of Cedar Avenue Blues Band), Mare Trevathan (Best Actress awards from The Denver Post, Westword, et al), Jim Ruberto and special guests including Channel 9 Entertainment Reporter Kirk Montgomery!

Learn more about the show at www.ballsaholidayspectacular.com!

"BALLS! A Holiday Spectacular" runs Mondays, December 12 and 19, 2011 at 7:00pm at Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret, 1601 Arapahoe in Denver. Doors open at 6:00pm.
