PROCEEDS FROM 10th ANNUAL ART FOR LIFE EVENT PROVIDE HOPE, MEALS TO PATIENTS WITH LIFE THREATENING ILLNESSES
Denver, CO -- Over 400 art enthusiasts gathered for an evening of fine art, hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, wine, and good company at Project Angel Heart’s tenth annual Art for Life at Artwork Network in Denver. This year’s event highlighted more than 100 local and internationally recognized artists who donated their work to a silent auction benefiting Project Angel Heart. This year, artwork from students at the Denver School of the Arts and Art Students League of Denver was also featured.
The event raised nearly $70,000 for Project Angel Heart.

Project Angel Heart DGLCC NonProfit Organization of the Year
On Wednesday, April 13th from 4:30 to 5:30 PM, Project Angel Heart hosted a groundbreaking ceremony at their new facility on 49th and Washington. This was a significant moment for Project Angel Heart as they begin their journey into a larger facility, thus presenting greater possibilities for the future.
The ceremony was successful with the help of guest speaker Governor John Hickenlooper, alongside Mayor Bill Vidal, President of the Board of Directors, Mark Thrun, M.D., Campaign Co-Chair, Lorii Rabinowitz, Executive Director of Project Angel Heart, Erin Pulling and long time volunteer, donor and former client Craig Ball.
After providing 20 years of service to those coping with life-threatening illnesses in the Denver metro and Colorado Springs communities, Project Angel Heart was able to break ground on their facility specifically designed to meet the demands of the increasing need in the community, for nutritious meals modified to meet the need of the clients’ medical condition. Upon completion in late 2011, the fully renovated 1948 facility, which sits on over two acres in the Globeville neighborhood, will provide 30,000 square feet of space to eventually quadruple the number of clients receiving meals weekly from Project Angel Heart.
Davidson: A feast of goodwill and food for Project Angel Heart
If you were fortunate enough to be at Project Angel Heart's annual foodfest, A Taste for Life, your evening meal could have included salumi from Il Mondo Vecchio, followed by Second Home's mouthwatering chicken and waffles that were drizzled with maple syrup spiked with Stranahan's whiskey and, from Avenue Grill, Key lime pie nestled atop strawberry-margarita sauce.
Or even miso black cod done to perfection by the culinary wizards at Occasions by Sandy, braised lamb and chickpea puree on slices of tarragon flatbread, courtesy of the chefs-in-training at Johnson & Wales University.
Seventeen restaurants and catering companies signed up for the event chaired by Christopher K.M. Leach and Deidre O'Callaghan. Working with Jeremy Anderson, Julie Carroll, Laura Gillespie Lhevine, Robb Green, Paul Jeselnick and David Orlovsky, they sold enough tickets to fill Exdo Event Center and raise a "solid amount" for Project Angel Heart's mission of delivering nutritious meals to area residents with life- threatening illnesses.
