What's for supper?

If you were fortunate enough to be at Project Angel Heart's annual foodfest, A Taste for Life, your evening meal could have included salumi from Il Mondo Vecchio, followed by Second Home's mouthwatering chicken and waffles that were drizzled with maple syrup spiked with Stranahan's whiskey and, from Avenue Grill, Key lime pie nestled atop strawberry-margarita sauce.

Or even miso black cod done to perfection by the culinary wizards at Occasions by Sandy, braised lamb and chickpea puree on slices of tarragon flatbread, courtesy of the chefs-in-training at Johnson & Wales University.

Seventeen restaurants and catering companies signed up for the event chaired by Christopher K.M. Leach and Deidre O'Callaghan. Working with Jeremy Anderson, Julie Carroll, Laura Gillespie Lhevine, Robb Green, Paul Jeselnick and David Orlovsky, they sold enough tickets to fill Exdo Event Center and raise a "solid amount" for Project Angel Heart's mission of delivering nutritious meals to area residents with life- threatening illnesses.

In 2009, Project Angel Heart volunteers dispatched 410,223 meals to 1,842 clients throughout the metro area. There is no charge for the service; learn more by visiting www.projectangelheart.org.

As mistress of ceremonies, CBS4 personality Gloria Neal kept things hopping by crisscrossing the party area, microphone in hand. She solicited opinions about the food, encouraged bids in the silent auction and helped executive director Erin Pulling introduce VIPs in attendance.

Guests included the president of the Project Angel Heart board, Dr. Mark Thrun; radio talk-show host Peter Boyles; Micheal O'Shea; Michael Ditchfield and Natasha Gitlitz; and BJ Dyer and Guenther Vogt of Bouquets, who once again donated the evening's decor.
