5000+ Meals Delivered to Rural Coloradans in Shipping Program’s First Year

We celebrated a big milestone at the end of May–the one-year anniversary of Project Angel Heart’s meal shipment program! Though our Meals for Care Transitions program, we contract with a wide range of health care organizations across the state in an effort to provide medically tailored meals to a greater number of Coloradans who need them. Shipping meals is how we’re able to serve people living in rural areas whose meals are provided through one of our contracts.

In the first year of shipping meals, we delivered more than 5,000 meals to 146 clients outside of our normal delivery boundaries. We packed all of those meals in our kitchen, and then FedEx delivered them right to the recipients’ doors in communities where medically tailored meals might otherwise be hard to come by.

In year one, we sent 599 packages as far as 290 miles from our Denver kitchen. The meals were delivered to 34 different towns in 18 counties –that’s 28 percent of the counties in Colorado!
