Foster Fellowship Program
Brandon Foster Culinary Excellence Fellowship
We are excited to announce the launch of a new culinary training and leadership fellowship, created by the family of our former executive chef, Brandon Foster. The Brandon Foster Culinary Excellence Fellowship will be a 24-month training program built for new and emerging chefs from diverse communities in Colorado – including, but not limited to, BIPOC, refugee, immigrant, and LGBTQ chefs. Fellows will receive a full-time professional chef position at Project Angel Heart, one of the country’s leading food-as-medicine agencies. The Foster Fellowship will provide intensive training related to nutrition, kitchen management, and food policy, as well as public speaking and networking opportunities.
A note from the family of Brandon Foster
Dear Family and Friends,
One year ago, we unexpectedly said good-bye to our beloved son and brother, Brandon. Brandon was respected and loved by so many. We miss him every day.
Known throughout his life for his generosity of spirit, Brandon mentored dozens of chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff during his career. He regularly participated in charity events, gathering his fellow chefs together to make food and give back to the community.
When he began working at Project Angel Heart in 2016, we knew he had found his career home, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating nutritious and flavorful meals for those most in need. Here he could continue to develop and express his culinary skills, mentor young chefs and, most important to Brandon, make a difference in the world. This is where he was the happiest and this is how we will remember him.
As our way of honoring Brandon’s life, we have worked with Project Angel Heart to create this unique culinary fellowship, a program that will support young and emerging chefs from diverse communities so that they can get started in their careers and carry on his lifelong commitment to accomplishment, service, and creating a better world.
As a family, we have personally committed to raising $150,000 as part of an initial seed grant to ensure the successful launch of the Fellowship and are dedicated to supporting it in the future
We are encouraging and welcoming all of you – friends, family, coworkers, and all who loved him and what he stood for – to bring this Fellowship to life with your contributions and ensure its impact in the years ahead.
Thank you for sharing your love for Brandon with us and enabling his spirit to live on.
Ken Foster, his dad; Kathy Poirier, his mom; and Aaron Foster, his brother
