Food is Medicine Colorado (FIMCO) is a recently created statewide multi-stakeholder coalition aimed at enhancing the role of nutrition in health care and increasing access to medically tailored food and nutrition services for people living with (or at increased risk for) severe, complex, and/or chronic illnesses.
FIMCO advocates for the recognition of healthy food as an effective and cost-saving approach to managing health conditions, and collaborates with health care providers, insurers, and government agencies to integrate Food is Medicine programs into mainstream health care.
FIMCO member organizations comprise:
- Community-based organizations that currently provide/are future providers of Food is Medicine interventions (medically tailored food and/or medical nutrition therapy)
- State agencies
- Regional Accountable Entities (RAEs)
