Building Community: Jordy Construction and the Spirit of Gobble Gobble Give

On Wednesday, November 26, the morning will start early inside Project Angel Heart’s Denver kitchen. The clatter of pans and the rhythm of conversation will fill the room as volunteers tie up their aprons, chop veggies, and pack meal bags. Some have done this for years; others will step into the kitchen for the first time. Together, they’ll prepare, package, and deliver thousands of meals for Coloradans living with severe illness, all before the day is done.
This is Gobble Gobble Give. In a single day, more than 400 volunteers will come together to contribute to our biggest delivery day of the year. Beyond the incredible pace and scale of the day, the true magic lies in what it sparks.
Gobble Gobble Give is about more than food, it’s about community. It offers people a meaningful way to give back at a time when gratitude and generosity are front of mind. For many, it becomes the first step in a lasting relationship with Project Angel Heart’s mission.
A Day That Moves People to Action
The event serves as a vivid reminder of how much can happen when people show up for one another. In just one day, 15,000 meals reach homes across Colorado—meals that not only nourish bodies, but also ease burdens for clients managing serious health challenges.
For many first-time volunteers, Gobble Gobble Give is just the beginning. Inspired by what they experience, they often return to volunteer throughout the year, join monthly giving programs, or bring friends and family into the fold. The event’s impact ripples outward, transforming one day of service into a year-round commitment to compassion.
A Legacy of Support: Jordy Construction and Charles Jordy

At the heart of this story stands Jordy Construction, Gobble Gobble Give’s presenting sponsor and one of Project Angel Heart’s earliest champions. Company founder Charles Jordy first connected with Project Angel Heart in 1991. “I met Charles Robbins through a mutual friend and became a supporter right away,” he recalls. “I helped with the first fundraiser in the basement of the Ice House downtown. It raised some money, but mostly it raised awareness for this terrific organization, which was just in its infancy.”

That early spark grew into decades of support. Jordy Construction went on to help rebuild Project Angel Heart’s facility into the vibrant kitchen it is today. He says, “Through the great work of architect Tony Deagan, Project Angel Heart’s leadership, our Jordy team, and many subcontractors and suppliers, it came together beautifully and continues to serve Project Angel Heart very well.”
Charles and his husband Brian have also been proud members of the Bread & Butter Club since its inception. “It’s one of the most meaningful donations we give,” he shares.
Why the Work Matters
For Charles, supporting Project Angel Heart has always been about meeting people’s most fundamental needs. “Our clients have needs that their very lives depend on and lack the ability to provide them,” he says. “Food is about as basic as you can get, and if we can help with this cornerstone of their survival, I’m all in.”
That clarity of purpose is what keeps him showing up year after year—and what continues to inspire his team. “We just get the ball rolling, and our people take it from there,” he says. “It makes us stronger and better as an organization. Alone we can do some things, but as a group with other partners, it’s exponential what we can accomplish.”
The Ripple Effect of Gobble Gobble Give
For Charles, Gobble Gobble Give perfectly captures the essence of Project Angel Heart’s mission and its lasting influence. “It’s a chance to see, at street level, the incredible good this offers so many people in need,” he says. “And the need is ongoing—not just a special holiday occasion. It’s every day, every week, every year.”
That realization often stays with volunteers long after the day ends. “I hope people take with them that incredibly good feeling of helping others,” Charles adds. “Take a break from your normal routine and look around at the help you can give others very easily.”
For many, that feeling is the beginning of continued engagement. Volunteers who first join Gobble Gobble Give later return to help in the kitchen, sign up for delivery shifts, or become monthly donors. Each action, no matter how small, helps sustain the mission long after the holiday season fades.
Looking Ahead
When asked what he envisions for the future, Charles reflects with both realism and hope. “I don’t believe the need is ever going to go away,” he says. “But our commitment to help those in need will truly define our success as a community.”
