February 2022 Volunteers of the Month
Congratulations to Benita and Mel Thompson, distribution volunteers. Benita and Mel were nominated by Distribution and Delivery Manager Matt Nigro. Here’s what Matt had to say about Benita and Mel:
Benita and Mel have volunteered nearly every Friday for nine years. They work behind the scenes to set up Denver’s delivery drivers for success. Mel and Benita do it all: organizing and preparing routes before delivery, making sure each client with an upcoming birthday gets a cake and card, and assisting drivers in the parking lot. Most notably, Benita and Mel are two friendly faces that always brighten our Fridays. It’s clear they have the same effect on fellow volunteers, who always find them to say, “hi” and chat before beginning their deliveries. Mel and Benita, thank you for bringing your caring, fun, and generous spirits to our community. You do so much to care for our neighbors in their time of need, and we can’t imagine Fridays without you!
