Join us as a volunteer Dining Out For Life® ambassador! This fun, one-day opportunity is a great way for Project Angel Heart volunteers, friends, and supporters from both Denver and Colorado Springs to take part in our largest annual fundraiser and make a BIG difference for Coloradans in need.
On Thursday, April 26, thousands of diners will visit 230+ restaurants and breweries in the Denver/Boulder area to raise funds for Project Angel Heart. You’ll volunteer as a representative at one of these restaurants to tell diners about Project Angel Heart, thank them for dining out, answer questions, and encourage personal donations. It’s a great way to share your passion for Project Angel Heart with the community, and meet like-minded supporters!
“Being an ambassador is very affirming,” says Cathy Reilly, a volunteer from Colorado Springs who enjoyed coming up to Denver for the day to be an ambassador. When she volunteered at Angelo’s Taverna, she loved meeting everyone from faithful supporters and diners who were volunteering back when Project Angel Heart was operating out of a church basement, to others genuinely interested in learning about the mission.
Melanie Lindsay-Brisbin, a long-time Colorado Springs Regional Council member who’s been an ambassador for the last three years, agrees that “the best thing about being an ambassador is meeting all the diners who come out year after year for this event and who love supporting Project Angel Heart.”
In addition to spreading the word, ambassadors raise thousands of dollars to support Project Angel Heart’s home-delivered meal programs. At restaurants without a volunteer ambassador, the average personal donation total from diners is $39. At restaurants with an ambassador, we raise an average of $835! Plus, donations of $25 or more made during your shift will be matched (up to a total of $25,000) by the Lu Foundation, so you have the opportunity to DOUBLE your impact.
Volunteer shifts are available during breakfast, lunch, and dinner on April 26, and we’ll provide a full training beforehand (trainings will be held at our Denver and Colorado Springs offices). When you sign up, you’ll have the opportunity to select which part of town you’d like to volunteer in, and you can also pair up with a friend.
“The training is fabulous and it’s fun to be an ambassador with a friend or family member,” says Melanie about the opportunity. “Being from Colorado Springs, I really enjoy being a part of such a big night for Project Angel Heart!”
