We are thrilled to welcome Tiana Clark and Alex Reinhardt to the Project Angel Heart team! Tiana will work at our Colorado Springs office as distribution and volunteer assistant. Alex will work in our Denver office as volunteer resources coordinator.
Where are you from? How long have you lived in Colorado?
Tiana: I was born and raised in Colorado Springs, CO. On my birthday, July 27th, I’ll be celebrating 40 years of being here!
Alex: I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. After college, I moved to the city where I lived until 2016. My wife and I have been in Colorado for a little over two years. We love it!
What brought you to Project Angel Heart?
Tiana: I first became aware of Project Angel Heart while volunteering at the Colorado Springs Care and Share Food Bank. I saw the decorated bags and I asked a volunteer what the bags were for. Those stuck with me. Fast forward a few years and I found myself wanting to be in a role a bit more meaningful after spending so long in the corporate insurance world. I have always enjoyed being engaged in the community by participating in a variety of volunteer roles and I found that this is when I am most content. When I saw the opening for the Colorado Springs distribution and volunteer assistant it seemed perfect. This job is a good balance of applying my organizational skills from my corporate past with the opportunity to participate hands-on with helping people in the community.
Alex: I was previously working at another non-profit near Boulder where I managed a group of Parkinson’s Disease advocates across the United States. After two years, I hoped to find a position that aligned my passion for community and volunteers while giving me the opportunity to work face-to-face with people. Project Angel Heart came to me at the perfect time and the more research I did on the organization, the more I fell in love with it and felt compelled to apply for this position in volunteer resources.
What’s your favorite thing to do in or around Denver?
Alex: I discovered my love for running when I moved to Colorado; I signed up for a half-marathon when I arrived and have been running ever since! I’ve loved exploring the many trail systems around Denver and Boulder and I will try to get out in nature each week for a long run. I also love live music and will take any recommendations to see some local jazz, blues or bluegrass!
What’s your favorite thing to do in or around Colorado Springs?
Tiana: My favorite thing to do is to find ways to get outside and enjoy the Colorado sun! I love hiking, rafting, the many festivals, parades, parks, etc. I’ll try just about anything as long as it’s outside with the exception of skiing. As many years as I’ve been here, I have yet to make peace with the snow!
What is your favorite meal to make?
Tiana: I tend to be more comfortable baking than cooking, but my favorite thing to cook is a traditional Sunday meal filled with soul food. Candied yams or marshmallow sweet potatoes, cornbread, and greens are a must!
Alex: Crispy avocado tacos with roasted veggie salsa.
What’s been your favorite thing about Project Angel Heart so far?
Tiana: So far, I have been overwhelmed with how warm and welcoming the volunteers and staff have been. I have really enjoyed the in-person interaction with the volunteers and seeing who helps make this all work. Everyone is so committed to this organization and it feels very comfortable.
Alex: The people. I’m astounded by the positive attitude that the staff and volunteers bring to their jobs and tasks each day and have been learning so much about what makes this place special. You can feel the warmth and energy when you walk through front doors each morning and I get such a strong sense of community here.
What are you looking forward to?
Tiana: I am really looking forward to learning and understanding the different components of Project Angel Heart and how it all fits together. I am amazed at what goes into making the meal delivery process work and I really want to understand each puzzle piece that makes it whole.
Alex: I’m looking forward to learning more about the roles and responsibilities here at Project Angel Heart. Everyone brings a unique talent and passion to their position so I’m very excited to get to know the staff, volunteers as well as those we serve.
