Mike Engelking: Volunteer of the Month

May 2022 Volunteer of the Month

Congratulations to Mike Engelking, Pueblo distribution assistant and meal delivery driver. Mike was nominated by Pueblo Volunteer and Distribution Coordinator Maggie Olague. Here’s what Maggie had to say about Mike:

I’d like to nominate Mike Engleking as May’s Volunteer of the Month. Mike started volunteering with Project Angel Heart in 2020, assisting weekly with both shuttling and meal delivery. Mike was attentive and always on time, and offered to deliver anywhere in metro Denver, a huge plus for the Denver staff. When Mike let us know in 2021 that he was moving to Pueblo, we thought we lost one stellar volunteer for good!  Then, as luck would have it, Mike saw the article about our expansion to Pueblo in 2022, and he immediately jumped right back in! Mike now spends his Saturday mornings in Pueblo as both a Distribution Assistant and Meal Delivery Driver.

Anyone who has interacted with Mike knows he has a heart of gold! He shows up every Saturday with a giant smile and lots of enthusiasm, ready to help in any way possible to make the day go as seamless as possible. From the first day that I met Mike, he has been so kind and selfless. His dedication to our mission and clients shines through him! It shows through his flexibility, reliability, and willingness to help. He often offers to take two delivery routes to ensure all clients get their meals that week. You are a rockstar volunteer, Mike, and we appreciate everything you do for us and our organization.

Congrats, Mike!
