Arapahoe County’s generous support will fund the preparation and home-delivery of medically tailored meals to older Arapahoe County residents who are living with severe illness. Nutrition is a key factor of health for older adults. While illness is not an inevitable side effect of aging, research shows that 80 percent of older adults have at least one chronic illness, which can create challenges in accessing and preparing nutritious meals. Project Angel Heart clients receive weekly deliveries of 7-14 meals that meet their individual and medical dietary needs, prepared by a team of professional chefs and a registered dietitian to ensure that they are receiving the nutrition they need.

Project Angel Heart’s work aligns with Arapahoe County’s goals of providing essential, efficient services to support our community where they need it most. Thanks to their support and the support of other funding partners, Project Angel Heart is able to address a need that has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. One client recently shared, “Project Angel Heart has been a very needed help to me at this difficult time in my life. I have never needed any help before, but a combination of not being able to stand but for very short times with the pain in my feet and ankles, plus other health problems of old age, a huge rent increase and other unexpected expenses such as co-pays has made things hard. Project Angel Heart has been a great help. Keep up the good work. Thank you!”
