Volunteer of the Month: February 2019

Congratulations to Lanny Dick, kitchen assistant and volunteer of the month for February 2019! Lanny was nominated by the Tuesday morning volunteer crew, who said:

“Lanny has been involved with Project Angel Heart from its origin, serving as one of the original board members. Over his twenty years of volunteer service to the organization, Lanny has been a kitchen assistant on Tuesday mornings working the line, slicing bread, or doing whatever task needs to be done.

Lanny is beyond loyal to his commitment, rarely misses a shift, and beats most of us there every single Tuesday. Most of us have had the benefit of how warmly Lanny welcomes newcomers to the group, instantly putting them at ease and making them feel like a part of things. Lanny has also been a monthly financial contributor through the Bread and Butter Club for many years as well as often sponsoring a meal with his partner Jim.

In addition to Lanny’s gifts to the organization, both financial and through his time, effort, and service, all of us who work alongside him on Tuesday mornings are especially privileged to know him. Lanny has a tender and generous heart and soul, gently helping many of us through our own life experiences with his compassion and empathy. How many great conversations have each of us shared with Lanny– too many to count and we are grateful for all of them.

And of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention his fabulous baking skills which he shares with us by bringing some delicious baked good to share with our team and staff at our break just about every week.”

As volunteer of the month, Lanny will enjoy a special dinner prepared by Project Angel Heart’s chefs.
