Volunteer of the Month: January 2020

Congratulations to JoAnn Slater, our volunteer of the month for January 2020! JoAnn, a kitchen volunteer in Denver, was nominated by her Tuesday morning volunteer crew.

“JoAnn has been a Tuesday morning kitchen volunteer since February 2005, and does all the different kitchen tasks that a kitchen assistant can do! When Project Angel Heart expanded to deliver extra meals to clients, JoAnn also expanded her commitment to the organization taking on an additional shift on Monday as well. JoAnn has always been willing to do anything that pops up during a shift, and she stays as late as necessary to ensure everything is complete before she leaves.

JoAnn also brings homemade baked goods in to share with her fellow volunteers, and she hosts a great garden party every summer for all of the Tuesday morning crew and their mates, a real highlight to our very limited social scene.

JoAnn is very welcoming to new volunteers and tries to help them feel comfortable in the new environment, a skill not taken lightly. JoAnn is much appreciated by each and every one of her fellow volunteers, making our shift a very special place to be every Tuesday.”

As volunteer of the month, JoAnn will enjoy a special dinner prepared by Project Angel Heart’s chefs.

Do you know a volunteer that deserves recognition? Did you see someone go the extra mile? Nominate them for Volunteer of the Month! You can nominate someone here or by filling out the paper nomination forms located in the break room in our Denver office.
