Announcing our Next President and CEO

I am excited to share that Dr. Marti Macchi will be Project Angel Heart’s next president and CEO. Following a national search, we found Marti’s profound belief in the transformative power of Food is Medicine combined with her deep public health experience to align beautifully with our mission and vision. Marti will officially begin her role on June 16.
Marti’s career has been focused on translating public health science into real-world impact. She most recently served as chief program strategy officer at the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors, a nonprofit public health organization dedicated to building and strengthening state and national leadership and expertise in chronic disease prevention and management. In that role, she led strategic planning and program development, managed partnerships, and built and led teams through growth, evolution, and innovation—and always with heart. Additionally, Marti has overseen wellness programs in Missouri, Wyoming, and Kansas.
Marti’s academic background includes a Doctor of Public Health from the University of Illinois-Chicago, master’s degrees in Public Health Leadership and Exercise Science and physical Education, and a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies, with emphases in communication, psychology, and sociology.
She says of joining the Project Angel Heart family, “I am thrilled and honored to be stepping into the role of president & CEO at Project Angel Heart. Throughout my career in public health, I have been inspired by how communities come together to effect meaningful change. Project Angel Heart’s work has always combined compassion with impact. I look forward to working together with our dedicated staff, board, volunteers, and supporters to continue to build on that impact. There is exciting and important work ahead and I can’t wait to get started!”
Marti and her husband recently relocated to Colorado to be closer to family. You’ll soon see her rolling up her sleeves in the office and kitchen, ready to learn from our dedicated volunteers and team. We’re also planning opportunities to introduce Marti to our broader community at events throughout the summer and fall—please stay tuned.
We hope you’ll join us in giving Marti a warm welcome to the Project Angel Heart family! We’re looking forward to an exciting new chapter—and we’re so glad to be sharing it with all of you.
With gratitude,
Heather Miller
