A Taste for Life Sponsor Gives Back in Many Ways

When you see a DaVita team member at A Taste for Life on October 26, shake their hand. Help us extend a massive thank you for the many ways in which they help provide meals for neighbors in need!

In addition to their generous financial support as the presenting sponsor for A Taste for Life, DaVita team members support Project Angel Heart’s program as referral partners. When health care providers at dialysis clinics across Denver and Colorado Springs see patients who are facing illness alone, lack financial resources, or are too sick to cook for themselves, they provide information that helps patients connect with charitable organizations like Project Angel Heart. We provide nutritious meals that are customized to meet the specific needs of critically ill individuals, including those with failing kidneys, and support their treatment.

“DaVita is a key partner in helping us reach people in our community who need customized, home-delivered meals,” said Brandy Brogan, Project Angel Heart’s client services manager. “Without DaVita we wouldn’t be able to help these people. In 2017, they have been our top referring agency. Their efforts are ensuring a better quality of life for hundreds of people coping with the devastating impacts of kidney disease.”

DaVita team members have also volunteered at Project Angel Heart since 2010, donating time to prepare and package meals, deliver meals to neighbors living throughout metro Denver, and decorate meal delivery bags with cheerful artwork. DaVita volunteers have already spent more than 85 hours decorating meal bags for Project Angel Heart clients in 2017!

“I really enjoy my meals and I love the bags [that the meals arrive in] too. I don’t know if they’re done by big kids or by little kids but it’s like someone really cares, like getting a hug with your meals made with love,” said Bob, a Project Angel Heart client.
