Even if you’ve volunteered countless times, you might never have thought twice about that little white label on every bag, but it means a lot to us behind the scenes….
Every Friday morning, 30 to 40 volunteers gather at our Denver office to pick up their delivery routes. Almost all of the clients who receive Friday deliveries live within 5 miles of our facility…almost. We also serve the Montbello and Green Valley Ranch areas on Fridays– closer to Denver International Airport than Project Angel Heart….
You may recognize Joel as the guy who rides his bike to Project Angel Heart twice a week. He chops tons of veggies (literally) as part of the Tuesday afternoon kitchen crew, and also helps our distribution team organize Friday delivery routes. David volunteers every Thursday as part of a dedicated group of individuals. This “Thursday Distribution Crew” packs all 6,000 frozen meals, plus soup, bread, and desserts, in under four hours every Thursday! Most importantly, their eye for detail ensures that each and every client receives their medically modified diet.

Kathleen Heymans, affectionately known as “Zog”, volunteers both in our Denver kitchen and as a satellite coordinator. Each Saturday, she meets delivery drivers at one of our satellite locations, where she hands out routes for delivery and makes sure all of the meals in her area are delivered.
