Client Profile: Vickie

Vickie, a Project Angel Heart client, suffers from vascular necrosis, which is an irreversible disease that slowly destroys bone tissue by restricting its blood supply. It also causes severe, chronic pain and forces the 53-year-old to use a wheelchair and a walker. Vickie also lives with osteoarthritis and morbid obesity, making it even more difficult for her to take care of her basic needs like food preparation.

Luckily Vickie was referred to Project Angel Heart in December 2013 by the Visiting Nurse Association. Every week, a brightly-decorated bag filled with a modified diet of low sodium and low fat meals arrives at her doorstep.

Since she began receiving the meals, Vickie has reported that she is better able to remain independent in her home and afford healthcare. The meals have also lessened the stress of purchasing and preparing meals and improved her level of energy.

“The entire staff of Project Angel Heart is so kind and caring. The delivery people are very courteous and even sang Happy Birthday to me. Wow that was nice. Thank you all very much for the hard work and dedication,” Vickie, 53, vascular necrosis
