Volunteer of the Month: January 2018

Congratulations to David Kuhl and Joey Peña, shuttle drivers, meal delivery drivers, satellite coordinators, and Volunteers of the Month for January 2018! David and Joey were nominated by Patty Polsky, a fellow volunteer, and Matt Nigro, Project Angel Heart’s distribution coordinator.

Patty said, “they are always super helpful at the satellite location, helping everyone sort and load their meal bags. They make sure all the meals are picked up and will take extras if there are any problems when drivers don’t show up. They are always very upbeat and do anything they can to facilitate the deliveries. They are very resourceful if there are problems and go above and beyond to help in any way they can… plus they are fun people! I look forward to seeing them every week or two!”

Matt said, “David and Joey have been amazingly dedicated volunteers ever since their orientation day. Seeing that we were in a bind and needing someone to shuttle meals, they jumped into action right away, offering to stay and drive those meals across town. Since then, they’ve volunteered nearly every Saturday– delivering meals weekly, and shuttling and serving as satellite coordinators before deliveries every other week. They’ve also fundraised for Pie in the Sky and brought kids from Boys and Girls Club to tour Project Angel Heart and learn about our mission. Staff and fellow volunteers comment often how great it is to have Joey and David on the team!”

As Volunteers of the Month, Joey and David will enjoy a special dinner prepared by Project Angel Heart’s chefs.
