Volunteer of the Month, June 2016

Congratulations to Teresa and Liz Easton, a mother/daughter team serving as satellite coordinators and shuttle drivers in Colorado Springs and our Volunteers of the Month for June 2016! Teresa and Liz were nominated by Sally Davis and Sally Rothstein, our distribution assistant and regional manager in Colorado Springs.

“Every week, Teresa and Liz load their vehicle(s) with the meals originating out of First United Methodist Church, coordinate the delivery drivers, greet new drivers, and make our volunteers feel appreciated. Teresa and Liz also care for the handful of clients that pick up their meals weekly,” said Sally and Sally.

“But the extraordinary characteristic of their service is its longevity. They have driven down from Monument (about 45 minutes away) every week since 2008. Since nearly the beginning of operations in Colorado Springs, they have simply done what needed doing to make sure our clients receive meals every week.

They seldom ask for a week off. During a time of crisis in their family, Teresa and Liz insisted on working their normal shift. When we asked if they wouldn’t like some time off, Teresa responded, ‘Project Angel Heart is my happy place. When I’m feeling down or stressed, I’m happiest here, knowing I’m helping people’.

As Volunteers of the Month, Teresa and Liz, along with other Volunteers of the Month and those who nominated them, will enjoy a dinner prepared by Project Angel Heart’s chefs.

Do you know a volunteer that you think should receive special recognition? Did you see someone go the extra mile? Take a few minutes and nominate them for Volunteer of the Month!
