2021 was the first year that Project Angel Heart participated in Juneteenth, the national holiday commemorating the freedom of African American slaves and a celebration of black culture. Several team members hosted an information booth over the holiday weekend to share our mission. We gathered with fellow Coloradans to acknowledge the struggle and perseverance of Black people and our community’s commitment to growth, equity, and universal love.
We are pleased to announce Ellis Birrell as the first recipient of the Brandon Foster Culinary Excellence Fellowship, a 24-month training program built for new and emerging chefs from diverse communities in Colorado. As a recipient of the Foster Fellowship, Ellis will receive intensive training related to nutrition, kitchen management, and food policy, as well as public speaking and networking opportunities.
